Progression Tools from The Communication Trust (Ages 13-14)
The Speech, Language and Communication Progression Tools from The Communication Trust support teaching staff to identify children and young people who may be struggling to develop their speech, language and communication skills. They aim to provide a relatively quick way of determining where children and young people are against where they should be for their age and provide more information about how these vital skills are progressing.
Each Tool contains a colour reference booklet with instructions on how to use it, questions to ask the children and young people, guidance on how to observe their behaviour, and methods to track their results. You'll also be provided with a black and white version of the question and observation sections for you to write on. You can photocopy these additional sheets as many times as you wish for the number of children and young people you use the Tool with.
The Tools are for non-speech and language specialists who regularly work with children and young people in a school setting, such as teachers and higher level teaching assistants.
